Reviewing after several washes: this shampoo bar is compact, convenient, and easy to use. For reference, I have fine, frizz‑prone hair that tangles easily. My roots get greasy quickly while my ends stay dry, so I usually have to wash daily. This bar actually keeps my roots feeling cleaner for longer, and the texture it leaves is really nice. I pair it with a conditioner from another brand plus a leave‑in oil for the ends, and I’ve had no issues brushing through afterward. Overall, it’s been a pleasant surprise.

I got this shampoo bar for my 12 year old daughter, who has used a different type of shampoo bar from this same brand, Ethique, for about a year now (the clarifying shampoo bar, which is a yellow color). We initially switched to using a bar because she was having sensory issues with the thick, slimy feeling of normal bottled shampoo, and shower time was becoming a battle...and of course at her age, I wanted her to be self-sufficient and able to fully care for her own physical hygiene. Switching to bar shampoo was a game-changer, as she was immediately able to manage it so much better than liquid shampoo, and as an added bonus, as she got used to being fully in charge of her own hair with the bar style, her aversion to liquid shampoo has dissipated enough that she'll use that now without a fight if she's without the bar version. She's been using this green strengthening bar for a couple of weeks now, and I haven't noticed much difference in the look and feel of her hair as compared to the clarifying shampoo bar, honestly...it's about the same amount of cleanliness and ease of brushing through it. She has fairly thick hair to begin with, though, so I don't know that she has the type of hair where you'd readily notice a change from something like this. For her, as long as it cleans effectively, that's really all we need. The fragrance is sort of a fresh minty scent, and she likes it (she can be picky about scents, so I was relieved she approved of this one), and as others have said, the smell doesn't really last once the hair is dried. My daughter has very oily hair, and she probably should be washing it every day to manage the greasiness, but the most I can convince her to do right now is every other day. This bar does a reasonable job of cleansing for an every other day routine - it's definitely greasier the second day, but no more or less than it was with traditional sulfate-free liquid shampoo. We usually pull it back in a ponytail or braid the second day, and it looks fine. The first day after a wash, the hair is very soft and clean. I was hopeful the claims of the bar itself lasting longer than traditional liquid shampoo would come true, because these bars aren't cheap, but so far I've found that it doesn't really last much longer for us than a bottle of shampoo. Because my daughter's hair is so oily, I've encouraged her to make sure she's really getting enough lather to work all through her hair and down to all the roots, so I don't know if she's over-lathering and going through the bar faster than typical, but unless you are able to stretch your hair farther between washes than she does, I wouldn't necessarily expect the bar to last significantly longer. This is the main reason for four stars instead of five - I've been a little disappointed in the claims that it lasts longer. Overall, I'd say that although I don't notice a whole lot of difference between this style of shampoo compared to liquid shampoo as far as efficacy and longevity, the no-waste packaging and natural ingredients of these bars are a big plus. And if you have sensory issues with liquid shampoo, this is a fantastic option to make hair-washing a little less stressful.

I've already used other Ethique products and liked them, so I was excited to give this shampoo bar a try. I've been trying to incorporate rosemary products into my routine, because I have a mature hairline, and I was dealing with some thinning due to stress. I was immediately hit by how good it smells; It has a really pleasant herbal mint scent, but isn't overpowering. I've used it in both the bath and shower, and I'd say it works well in both situations. It lathers extremely well, and a little goes a long way. I've been using it for about a month now, and I've only just now started to see a visible reduction in the size of the shampoo bar. The lather is extremely rich and creamy, and I'd say it's pretty moisturizing for a shampoo. I usually leave it sitting on my hair for a while before rinsing. Once it dries, my hair is left extremely soft, even if I don't use a conditioner after it. I don't feel like it strips the natural moisture from my hair, like some other shampoos do. While it can be difficult to tell, because I've also incorporated other lifestyle changes and medicine to help with hair health and growth, I do feel like this shampoo works well for improving the condition of my hair. It looks fuller, and I've had less hairfall while washing it. Overall, I'm very pleased with this shampoo. It's my favorite out of the Ethique shampoos I've used, and I'll likely order another bar when I run out.

I ordered the strengthening version of this shampoo bar. It worked well to clean my hair and left it soft and smooth. I really liked the cute Cresent moon shape of this shampoo bar. I really like solid shampoos for mess free traveling. This shampoo bar has a noticeable peppermint scent and it did make my scalp tingle a little. The bar lathered well with just a little water and made a rich foam that cleansed well. This shampoo worked well to clean any greasiness. It left my scalp and hair feeling clean but not dry. The price for the bar is very reasonable and it should do countless washes.
