Decent fit but low quality, 2 month lifespan
I had been looking for an activity and sport shoe, and welcomed New Balance's wider fit. I felt my feet were supported and protected, and these pliable shoes breathed enough to keep me cool.I bought these shoes on 3 September this year. I'm an active person, but I don't punish my shoes. About the second week of November, I noticed that, on my right shoe, the shoe was cracking apart from the sole. Then the problem appeared two weeks later on the left shoe! It was just glued together!?I liked the fit while using the shoe, and the materials (apart from the glue) are in good condition, but their durability was negatively affected by the glue. Could they be stitched together or otherwise bonded? I doubt that I will buy from New Balance next, but I will be shopping for shoes again soon!

Sole separates from upper body quickly
I have been a New Balance wearer for over 25 years. Wide feet. I appreciate New Balance for their mission and quality shoes. I have running shoes, gym shoes, tennis shoes, walking shoes, and trail shoes--all from New Balance. I ordered 3 pairs of these tennis shoes. Bad move. All three pairs had sole glue problem. Within 2 months of moderate use, the soles became unglued. Terrible, terrible quality. New Balance, please pay attention to quality. Your shoes have always had glue problems, but these are the worse. Good grief.

Great no problems after 2 months of playing twice a week
Got this bc I love NB so much and for my wider than average feet, I wanted a tennis shoe that would be comfortable.I played tennis a lot growing up and then down scaled in college. When I was playing competitively I would probably go through shoes every 2-3 months. Of course I'm nowhere near that level now as I'm trying to get back in shape. I take a cardio tennis clinic twice a week for about an hour, meaning it's a lot of running and quick lateral movement and direction changes. I only wear these shoes for tennis, so I can safely say how the shoe is holding up for me and I'm happy with my experience. I don't notice any of the problems the other reviewers mentioned and the shoe has held up as well as I expected it to. The sole seems to have a minimal level of wear on them. My feet feel very comfortable in them and I haven't gotten blisters or any sore spots on my feet when I take these shoes off. I'd say it's pretty close to perfect as I never even think of my feet during or after my workouts.I would say the only gripe is that it's a low top shoe and I'm more used to mid to high top shoes, but it looks like the standard is low top for tennis shoes and I simply wear low cut socks to not look ridiculous in crew socks with these shoes. Black socks also look great with this shoe and would recommend over white if you have them.I am very satisfied with my purchase and would certainly order these again. Highly recommended!

Lightweight, strange muscle pains
It's not terribly comfortable for me. I have flat feet and found myself in PAIN for three days after wearing these for a hard 3 hour set a couple weeks ago. However, I didn't give up on them, and am finding my body adjusting. I had the nike city court VII before, which was a solid, comfortable shoe, but much heavier than this, and so boring looking compared to the bright neon and grey on the MC 696 i ordered. They really do look pretty cool, it's a neat match up of colors with the light grey.Like I said, I think it took me a while to get used to them, I hope it gets better, but there were definitely some issues adjusting to this shoe. It's not a 130 dollar comfortable masterpiece, after all, but it seems really well made and I think I'll be very happy with it in a couple more weeks. Not giving up on it.Very lightweight, feels so much easier to move around the court in these than my last nike's, I mentioned above.$60 bucks is a good deal by anybody's standards.I play 3.5 and 4.0 singles/doubles in northwest ohio.

MC696 - the return
I bought the earlier model MC696 in 2012. This model had leather tops/ Needed to replace it early spring 2013 and learned was no longer on New Balances website. Tried MC1003 which cost over $100 and caused jamming problems for the next 8 months. Went back to the old MC696 pair and my foot problem went away. Winter 2014, still didn't find a replacement pair of MC696, so i bought MC786 but decided it was to cold for winter and used them this past summer. Moved back to the old MC696 last month as it was cold again but decided the shoe grip was iffy. Looked for MC696 again and pleasantly surprised to learn they were being made again. The latest model has an updated sole pattern which i like but some of the top leather was replaced with cloth. i prefer the warmth of leather but the cloth allows easier movement. Bought two pair this time.

Decent pair of tennis shoes
It's good shoes for light tennis games. It's not the hyper performance shoes you can find star athletes wear, but it's a good pair of shoes not just for tennis. Speaking of performance, it is not too heavy, not too light, has a decent grip, and has durable soles. I've only used it for a year, still looks good. Now my brother uses it on his job. Had it for about 3 years now.

Execllent and comfortable general use tennis shoe
This is light tennis shoe with mesh for good breath-ability but enough leather to still hold good form. I purchased the 10.5 2E and it fit my normally wide 10.5 foot. I use these for general purpose walking etc. not running or any special training. seems like the sole is a little stiff for running but might wear well if used for running. Its well made, not the lightest, but light enough that your not noticing the weight of the shoe on your foot. I was impressed for because the shoe fit as expected, was light, and well made, and very comfortable. Its hard to buy shoes you are not familiar with online, but this passed all expectations. i may buy me another pair for when these wear out.

Perfect for tennis. I have a D width and normally find most tennis shoes too wide.

Very confortable
The shoe in tennis is crucial, these pair are very confortable, light and the price is right. I used them on clay and the performance on the surface is better that other brands.

Too Narrow
I ordered a 12 2E. That is the size they shipped but I could tell by looking they narrowed at the toe - and I was right.

Good for the money
I use an insert and wear them for Pickle Ball outside. I am on my first full year and the bottoms are holding up well, not too much wear.
