Perfect for Long Runs
I used to make fun of people I saw running with these things on. In all honesty they are silly looking. But for long runs they are a life saver. It takes about two minutes of being on my back before I forget it is there. It is much better than carrying a bottle, and holds about four times as much. It supplies enough water for fifteen miles on a hot day. There is a little pocket on the back that can fit your keys and an ipod, which I prefer to having my ipod strapped to my arm. The pocket is not good for gels or anything that you want to access without having to stop and take the pack off. I think the greatest benefit of Camelbaks is the freedom of not have to plan runs around water breaks. For the price, I really can't recommend the HydroBak enough.

lightweight bag, but no carry space in the pocket
This pack is fine if you are looking for a really small carry pack for water. The pocket is too small for an average smartphone, and really doesn't carry much at all. There is only the single pocket, I purchased 2 of these so each of my kids could use one. They had plenty of water since they are teenagers, but neither of them could get their phones in the bag so they still had to use their pockets.

Perfect for 9 year old Cub Scout
I purchased this pack after hearing about getting a smaller kids sized Camelbak Mini Mule system. Problem was that the kids Camelbak was nearly twice as much. I figured that since this carried the same amount of water (50 oz), it must be a similar size. I was right. This fit my son perfectly for a recent Cub Scout outing. He is a Weblo now and is camping on his own. This was a great price and a perfect system for him. My wife has also worn it and commented that for her petite size, it was also perfect. This Camelbak will carry your keys, a small snack or granola/power bar. I stuffed my son's contact "if in an emergency" information between the bladder and the back in a ziploc bag, so there's other room in there if you get creative.MAKE SURE you wash the bladder and do an overnight soak with 10-15 oz of vinegar - yes vinegar. Pour the vinegar into the bladder, squeeze it out the mouth tube and clear out all air by carefully purging the bladder. It will clear out the "plastic-y" taste once it is rinsed out the day after. Also MAKE SURE you empty, rinse, wash, whatever and air out the bladder and mouth tube before storing away or you will have mold/mildew setting in. The rubber bite valve will come off if you are patient and slowly rotate it while working it off. Clean this part as well. This is our first Camelbak backpack and we love it!By the way, the Camelbak insulated water bottle is also an incredible item. It fits perfectly in a bike cage and keeps iced water cool for hours.

necessary
First, it makes a HUGE difference if you stay hydrated, when you ride your motorcycle for 6+ hrs. I wish I had done this a long time ago.As for this product, I've learned it is better quality than the cheaper brand my riding buddy bought. This one doesn't drip, whereas his does. The big opening sure makes it convenient to fill. I also like how this one is not bulky like the bigger sizes you can buy. And frankly for motorcycle riding I find the capacity of this unit is way plenty.I do wish this unit had included a quick connector. I bought an optional, insulated tube, but I had to also buy a quick-connect kit just to install it. Turns out the insulated tube make some difference but not that much, but that's a different story.Still, given the quality of this unit, and the huge improvement when staying hydrated, I would buy this product again.

Hydration pack
My family and I just spent a week in the mountains of NC hiking, whitewater rafting and riding motorcycles. This camelbak hydration pack was indispensable for most of the week. We threw a bunch of ice in it and filled with water in the morning, and the water was still nice and cool well into the afternoon. The pack itself is relatively small so it gets out of the way easily and the mouthpiece works great.I love being able to get a sip of water while riding too, and not needing to stop and take off my helmet.Great product for the money!

Adequate for a young biker's first hydration pack. It ...
Adequate for a young biker's first hydration pack. It doesn't hold much, so if your child is at least in 4th grade, and you have a 15-mile bike ride, get a bigger Camelbak.

Camelbak's are the best
I bought this for my son who is 10. When we go on bike rides at the local rail-trail, he is always wanting to drink out of mine. I have the Mule, which I bought several years ago. It was time to get him his own. He loves it and now I don't have to share mine. I have had my Mule for several years and Camelbak's are just flat-out a good product.Don't bother with the generic ones because the bite valve is just not the same as the Camelbak.

The water hole to pour water into is big....
That, to me is bit of a design flaw because it feels as though if you were to hold it the wrong way you can squeeze out a lot of water. Would be nice to have quick access to the hole to pour and go. But, the size makes it easier to clean. The mouth piece is great as well and does not leak at all. Comfortable and light.
