Looks nice but not fully functional... yet
Samsung decided to go with the Tizen OS instead of Android. It's good for checking incoming messages and taking short calls. But it fails in many other areas.1. Messages get updated to the Gear 2 Neo inconsistently. Most of the time the messages come through on point but other times it lags.2. Gear 2 Neo doesn't work with Samsung's "S Health" program, which is a shame since it's a great idea. You have to use another program called "Fitness with Gear", which is horrible.3. Pedometer is off by 10-30%. If you walk it's off by -10% but running is off by -30%. It's not accurate enough to use functionally. There is no way to even calibrate the pedometer; not everyone's strides are the same length. A big FAiL here.4. Music can be downloaded onto Gear 2 Neo but not easily. The music has to be on the phone memory, not the external SD Card. If you have a large music collection then it will eat up all of your phone memory... just so that you can transfer music to the Gear 2 Neo. Another big FAIL.5. The syncing of information to Samsung cloud is also inconsistent. The BT connection drops at times for no apparent reason (even when the phone is right next to me).6. Too many other small quarks that can be fixed by Samsung but they haven't done so. It seems like they just put the product out and we're the beta testers. The main reason why I did not buy the original Gear is because I was hoping that they would fix all their bugs. But introducing Tizen made it worst!I'm hoping Samsung will fix their shortcomings or else I'm switching to Apple when they release their smart watch and iPhone 6. Samsung has a lot of good but too many shortcomings to keep me captive.

Fantastic Fun!
I received my Gear 2 Neo yesterday and was a snap to charge and set up from my Galaxy Note 3. I find it very entertaining being able to track steps and calories, pulse rate and sleep. It also saves wear and tear reaching for my phone each time I receive new messages. I think the battery will last about two days if left on full time, and perhaps a bit longer. The device is also a watch. My biggest cons are that every time I move my wrist the light comes on. Is there a way to change this feature? And the second con is the band. It was extremely difficult to move the band to fit my arm and get it secured on my wrist. This morning I almost lost my watch because the little pin was not lodged in a proper hole on the band and when it snapped shut the band was not secure. It kept getting bigger and bigger and I caught it before it dropped and re-inserted the pin. I would like to order a leather band, but they are quite pricey. Also it says to wear the band below the wrist....when I make it large enough to snap below the wrist it just falls forward on the wrist. I gave up and let it sit where it wants to. I try to push it lower when doing a pulse reading. The watch is very sporty and is fine for casual wear, but would look ridiculous being worn with formal attire. I wish it were a bit more feminine but it will suffice. I don't think it is real sturdy and would benefit by a cover. I will let you know later how I feel about this product.

Many positives to share
Purchased from Amazon and when I finally thought I should return it, I was 4 days past due...ah well.Cost: $200 from AmazonReviewer: An Emergency physician planning to transition to Optimization medicine using the latest best science, tech, supplements and hormones and an inquisitive spirit to find and share along the way.Pros:1. lighter and more comfortable than I thought.. The clasp works well and the watch feels secure. May replace wristband with aftermarket alternatives.2. Although few apps were available initially new ones are available almost daily.3. The sleep monitoring app was interesting and I am curious to know if Samsung has any studies to validate the benefit of this tracking.4. Water resistance. One of the two features that made me wait for the Gear 2 improvements.5. Answering calls from my watch...alright this is cool. This will also allow me to be hands free while driving. I am surprised at both the quality of the speaker sound and the pickup of the microphone. People say they can hear me OK.6. Making the camera optional- I cannot think this is something I would use more than once or twice since I will almost always have my phone with me.7. Changing clock faces is neat.8. Find my device. Goes both way. Gear finds phone/phone finds Gear. Even if phone is on mute- the function causes the phone to make noise.9. Make a call from Gear using S-Voice. I just tapped the S-Voice app and said call Gillette (my daughter) and it did! Same for "Check the Weather".10. Just received a SMS message on the watch. I did something and S-Voice came up allowing me to dictate a reply straight from the watch.Cons:1. My biggest disappointment by far is is the Heart rate monitor. I'll admit my expectations were not high and they weren't met. I really wanted to be able to go for a run (or other exercise) and be able to glance down at my wrist and see a reasonably accurate measurement of my heart rate.2. Sport/Athletics- just not that helpful yet but since I cannot return it, I am hopeful new apps will continue to improve this experience.3. Unwanted dimming the display when out of doors- could be just me and maybe I am missing some means of stabilizing this adjustment.4. Double tap shortcut to watch function not currently working.5. Can't get it to integrate with `S Health' - the on board Samsung Health Ap which should use the heart rate sensor. So so:1. On board music2. pedometer3.The IR TV remote control worked but only controls volume and channel and with the complexity of the TV's these days that's not much use when the remote is nearby. Conclusion: This is a good smart watch with many desirable features. I tried a Pebble and did not feel the love. I am finding the Gear Neo very acceptable. I am looking forward to a new iteration and will likely gift my family as newer models come out. Because I am in the Samsung Android space, I may not compare with the eventual iWatch but I will look at it closely.Reference Manual: [...]

Good smartwatch for the price.
I read all the reviews on here and was a little worried to pull the trigger on the purchase. I've had the watch for over 3 months now and love it. I get 3 - 5 days of battery life from the watch, better than advertised! Not a big fan of the watchband but it does it's job.Pedometer reads about 10 - 20% less steps than what you really do, so if I get 800 steps, I probably went closer to 1000. That might be a problem for a few people, but I NEED those extra steps, so no biggie. I verified the steps to my old withings pulse and a stone age pedometer.I haven't had much problems with the pulse feature, but I did notice that it occasionally says I have 140 - 150 bpm, when I just start out. Sweating seems to have zero effect on the readings. Would I use the pulse feature or pedometer if I were seriously trainingfor the olympics, no. But for the casual user, it works fine.

Very happy with the purchase
Very happy with the purchase. Pretty well exactly as written up in various blogs and Youtube reviews. To date, the heart rate monitor does seem to work fairly well. One minor glitch; it reads steps while knitting, for those of you that may knit, apparently you are exercising more than you thought!Extremely handy device and very happy we made the purchase.

The speaker could be a little better if I don't want my headset but its nothing ...
Had this watch for a few months now. I bought it primary to track my fitness and hold my music all in one. It does just that. It never lets me down. Is very accurate, I have ran with a gps system to test it. The speaker could be a little better if I don't want my headset but its nothing to complain about as its just a small unit. Pairs great with my headset and responds well to any request. I don't go for a run without it.
