Decent product, an upgrade from say a toy, but I'm not impressed.
Too big for kids (-1star) - measure before purchase, or don’t purchase because the compasses didn’t work (-1star) and the paracord wasn’t well done (-1star) as the ends weren’t securely attached (I shouldn’t have to melt the ends myself when I’ve paid someone else to provide a finished product.)The whistle works okay.I didn’t check the flint/fire starter.UPDATE:The size matches the product description but be aware that it's too big for kids and loosely worn on adults. (+1 star)The compass DOES WORK by itself BUT the striker/knife is slightly magnetic so it interferes with the compass thus rendering the compass useless while the bracelet is being worn. You have to take the bracelet off (distancing the striker from the compass) for the compass to work. I'd add 1 star for the compass working but then take one away for the striker interfering with it.We resized the bracelets ourselves and re-sealed the ends to the buckle properly. Only 1 of the 3 bracelets didn't have the ends properly attached.

I recommend this!
Nice item to carry with you, with a compass, small cutting edge, firestarter, whistle, and paracord. It's the kind of item you hope you never really need. Perfect also for the day hiker that might want the extra security, just in case, if not for anything else but the whistle and compass. I recommend practicing with the firestarter and learning how to use it properly. If you really needed to start a fire for survival, that is NOT the time to try and learn how to do it.

Very pleased with the product
Very pleased with the product. Everything worked--I was a little concerned because there was no packing in with the bracelets, so they were rolling around in a bag in the box. However, I tried out them all and was able to get a spark going with the flint, the whictles all worked, and the compasses were working as well.

but like the impatient parents we are - we totally opened ...
We purchased this as a stocking stuffer for my 9 year old Cub Scout, but like the impatient parents we are - we totally opened it and played.PROS --- Seems well made - paracord is tightly wound and doesn't seem like it will be coming apart.-- Compass is accurate, at least according to my husband, as I'm completely directionally challenged-- Flint works! If you're having trouble, keep going - it took my husband about 10 strikes to get it going, and then from there it sparked every time.-- Whistle is pretty loud. What I like about it is that if there was a true emergency, the bracelet can be removed to use the whistle - but when it's NOT a true emergency and you're wearing the bracelet, the whistle is a pain to blow. I'm hoping this discourages using the whistle as a supremely annoying toy.CONS--- This isn't really a con, per se, but if you're purchasing it I think you need to know the intended audience. I don't think this is meant for the hardcore camper/hiker/mountain climber/etc... except as a backup. I think it's meant for the average person who camps and hikes. I'd hope that someone camping in the middle of nowhere away from all lifelines wouldn't stake their entire survival on a $3-4 bracelet (we paid $9.99 for the three pack). Use this as your backup if that's what you plan on doing.

Good for a less serious survivalist.
Bought these for my 8 year old who loves learning about survival skills. The bracelets are not adjustable and are BIG. Would fit a large adult man. He had a blast, however, using the compass and flint & steel. A piece of the flint & steel mechanism tends to fly out of the bracelet when striking and is almost impossible to fine. He loved it despite the fact. Probably because he enjoyed making just sparks and didn’t rely on it to make fires.

I love wearing these
I love wearing these. They're just so cool and I like the colors. I plan on buying more colors just to match my clothes. You never know if you might need this for yourself or someone else in an emergency. The whistle on it is great to have.

2 of the three bracelets don't have a working compass ...
2 of the three bracelets don't have a working compass. Two of the compasses read a false north. Each of them point to a different north when laid flat.

9 year old boys love this item
My grandsons loved the colors & the "cool" factor. They spent an hour trying to start a fire and yelling "look out! sparks!" every few minutes. We were on a camping trip and they thought they could save everybody's life if someone got lost! Loved them!
