Nice little Boombox.
I've owned this item for over 2 years now and use it on a regular basis. To this day everything functions as proper. For a lower end model, I've remained impressed with the reliability and functionality. Many Media input options.I live alone and take very good care of my possessions, it's still in like new condition. Therefore I have not encountered any broken or failed parts. I couldn't speak for a busy family with children or someone that would handle it roughly. The material isn't very strong so it would be more prone to have problems in those conditions. The spring loaded lid on the CD player is rather flimsy and could break if it isn't closed carefully. The function buttons on the top of the unit for CD, SD/USB control are prone to wear and can become stubborn. I've found that pressing the buttons carefully but firmly, and in the right spot should resolve that when it happens. The carry handle feels sturdy. As this unit has no way to adjust sound characteristics (bass, treble, etc) and 3" "paper" full range speakers, one can't expect room shaking sound. However, for what it is, the sound is acceptable. The volume will get exceptionally loud and doesn't seem to loose much clarity. The CD player works very well and usually handles worn and moderately scratched discs smoothly. Will play both standard audio CDs and mp3 CDs. The AM/FM tuner brings in stations very well. Usually these cheaper radios have weak tuners, surprisingly this one doesn't have that issue. There is a nice telescopic FM antenna on the rear behind the handle which can easily be tucked away. The SD/USB reader works well. I have found that it will sometimes play some files or folders out of order. Making sure the mp3 and wma files are properly tagged and labeled will usually correct the problem. The 3.5mm Auxiliary input automatically powers up the boombox when connected to a device, sound output is clear. This model does not have a headphone jack. You have two power options; AC 120V or 8 "C" alkaline batteries. Note that the batteries will add some weight. Using the USB/SD or Aux input will extend the battery life. Using the CD player or having the volume at high levels for extended periods of time will quickly drain the power though. For the SD/USB and CD player modes, a two digit backlit LCD display will show folder and track numbers, no text information though. All in all this is a great bargain for the price point.

Great little boombox
I needed a small cd player for my daughters bedroom. This one had some mixed reviews, but for my price range seemed like a good buy. I'm very happy with it. The controls are easy to figure out, the antenna works well enough that she can actually listen to the radio in her room (we live in a rural hilly area, so this isn't a sure thing with most radios). The sound gets as loud as you'd want it, and she has quickly learned how to use it on her own (age 7). I haven't tried using the SD card or Aux features yet, but it plays a MP3 cd that I burned for her without a problem. Good little boom box for the price.

Wonderful Features. Cheap Materials
I LOVE EVERYTHING about this player Except for the cheap and flimsy plastic that is used in its manufacturing process.Pros: very good sound quality, Plays regular CD's as well as MP3 discs and it plays the SD memory cards and USB thumb drives that I have most of My Music and Radio Programs stored.Con: My ONLY complaint is, no matter how careful I am with this product, I have no doubt this will break probably within a year.Every time I want to close the lid on the CD player, I have to mess with the push button to get it closed. When (not if) the button finally breaks, the CD player will no longer function.Other than the lack of quality build and the cheapest low quality plastic I have ever seen in any product I have ever owned, I really enjoy being able to play my Memory cards.I will be looking for a better built player as soon as I can afford it.

Defective and has cheap parts that quickly fail
It looks nice and sound good WHEN it works, except that it keeps turning itself off and, after less than two months, the CD player doesn't always recognize CDs, and the Skip buttons are failing. And I had trouble with the seller, "Johnson Burt", which, it turned out is a company in China. Not only did they ignore my complaint about a defective boom box, but, after Amazon had to get them to respond to me, they still ignored what I wrote: they sent me a form letter about my "cleaner". Amazon stepped in and got me a refund, and dealing with them (Amazon) on this matter was painless and quick, in contrast to dealing with the deceptively named Johnson Burt, which was as effective as talking to a rock.NOTE: I waited until Amazon got "Johnson Burt" to refund my money to post seller feedback, but when I went to do so I discovered that the Give Seller Feedback button had disappeared. So my experience and that of other people who also waited until they finally got a refund from "Johnson Burt" are not reflected in that company's rating. The first problem: The player lost power when I moved it or its cord. I use boom boxes to listen to books on CD and I often move the unit as I work around the apartment, so although I pause the player when moving and although the power goes back on after a second, the power interruption causes the CD to start at the beginning and me I lose my place in the book. Then I have to waste time hunting around the CD trying to figure out where I was. No other model boom box (and I have gone through several over the years) has given me this problem. The defect is not in the power cord (I tried another), it is inside the unit, where the cord plus into it.More CONS:• Also, within two months it started occasionally giving me a "No CD" error when it did have a CD in place.• This was soon followed by another failure: when I held down the Skip buttons during CD play to go forward or back up just a bit, instead the player jumped forward or back an entire track–I blame this on the frustrating fact that if you want to get to a specific CD track, you can't hold down the button, you have to push it down and release it for each track (and it clicks each time, which quickly gets annoying).• The Axess PB2703-RD has NO "Repeat" functions–you can't even repeat one song, let alone the entire CD.My overall impression is that the Axess PB2703-RD Portable MP3/CD Boombox is made using cheap parts.I'm probably going to use my refund to buy another Memorex Portable CD Boombox with AM FM Radio(a fine little workhorse). When the player that my parrot listens to died I gave him my Memorex boom box and bought this Axess model because it has USB capability, but after this experience I've decided to stick to the same Memorex model and just use my computer or car stereo to listen to stuff on USB memory sticks.
