I purchased this brush to help tame my daughter's very thick, very wavy, very long hair. I've owned several detangling brushes and this one has become my hands down favorite by far. The short of this review is that this brush effectively detangles long, thick, wavy hair whether it is wet or dry with minimal hair breakage and minimal yanking. It's built well and has long and strong bristles. /***** Build Quality *****/ This brush is built very well and feels solid in your hand but is very light weight. I am a man with relatively small hands and this brush is very easy to grip. I have found that when trying to comb through some particularly matted areas, it isn't strange for me to lose the brush. Otherwise, though, it sits well in the hand and doesn't get dropped often. The bristles are pretty sturdy/strong but have enough give in them to make for an effective detangle. After nearly 2 months of of twice a day use, I cannot see a single broken bristle and there is no visible wear to the brush. /***** Effectiveness *****/ The performance of the brush itself is stellar. Every detangling brush I have used in the past has struggled with my daughter's long, wavy, thick hair and required me to thoroughly wet or detangle spray the hair in order to work even semi-effectively. This brush has no such issues and I am able to detangle even dry hair thoroughly. It is also important to note that this brush manages to work very well with little to no tugging. My daughter is able to sit through an entire combing sessions without getting her hair yanked, which makes us both happy. /***** Conclusion *****/ This is absolutely the best detangling brush/comb/product that I have ever used. My only minor gripe is that the handle is a tiny little bit big, but this isn't enough for me to remove a star and it's definitely not a big deal overall. I would highly recommend this product to anybody because if this works on my daughter's hair, it'll work on anybody's hair!

My very reluctant to brush her own hair pre teen foster kiddo with lots of trauma over hair brushing will actually use this brush. She has thick wavy hair that she will not let anyone cut so it’s pretty long. It works well for little hands to grip the brush and work out the tangles. It is not completely ouchless but it has made mornings more bearable. This is the only brush the kid will even think of brushing her own hair with. We’ve tried lots of different brushes over the past month. This is the best so far. One day she even grabbed it unprompted and started brushing her own hair. Huge milestone!

The brush size, weight, and grip are very comfortable. It still catches some tangles so I didn’t give 5 stars, but it’s definitely a good detangle brush. The chrome purple makes it super cute, too!

I took it out of the box and I looked at it. I thought, "no way is this going to work." There were no bells, no whistles. No flashing lights. Nothing to make it look like it could do anything better than the brushes and combs I currently have. Disclaimer: bought for four year old daughter who gets lots of knots despite conditioner and detangling spray and blowdrying hair before bed, etc., etc... She does not have curly hair, but extremely thick straight/wavy hair, an inch or two past her shoulders. First try: on doing hair in morning. Noticeable decrease in tears and sobs as well as time to brush hair in total. Thumbs up. Second try: on wet hair right out of the bathtub. AWESOME. Holy cow, this is where it blew me away. My daughters hair was tangle free and ready to blow dry in under two minutes. I was in awe. Now, this is not a brush that can replace the brush(es?) in your arsenal. It's not particularly conducive to getting my daughter's hair up into a ponytail. I still need to use a comb for that part. However, strictly as a detangling brush used as part of your routine, it is outstanding. Now I can do the combing without the crying. Even better, it's a wonderful tool for teaching my four year old self care. She's eager to brush her own hair now, where she was afraid to try before. So thanks, Knot Genie, for a truly wonderful product, that comes in lots of fun colors for your child to choose from. :)
