Shimano FXS 2 Piece Spinning Rod

Great rod for the price range. The 8' MH Pairs well with an IX or FX Shimano reel in the 4000 class (I favor IX for the continuous anti-reverse). After two years in the surf, mine is going strong. It may not be world class in terms of performance, but it gets me to where the fish are and hauls them in. I toss bait and weight anywhere between 1 and 3 oz and the rod slings them out there beautifully. The ferrule is right in the middle of the overall length, so the rod breaks into two even halves. It handles 30lb braid (I've used Power Pro or Sufix 832) with ease. I've not seen any wear on the guides, despite hearing people warn about the dangers of using braid in porcelain eyes. As a surf fisherman, I'm not casting just a whole lot, which may reduce wear. Still after two years, I've seen none. This is the perfect rig for the surf fisherman who is beginning or on a budget. It will carry you far into the sport.

This product sucks. Bought this ultralight rod. Used 4 pound line. My second trip 1/2 in, a total of 3 hours of use, got a snag on some weeds. Barely pulled back and heard the rod crack. The rod was hardly even bent. Noticed cracks in the rod. Two casts later and the rod came apart in 2 pieces using a 1/2 oz weight. This rod let me down on the last trout trip. Shimano is overpriced crap. Will be posting a negative review on YouTube as well. Don't want a refund or replacement. Just don't want others to buy this cheaply made crap. Shimano sucks.

I should have taken pictures when I took this out of the box but didn't think of it and just wanted to get mky semi cheap reel on it seeeing it came a day late and I was in a hurry. I buy inexpensive rods and reels all the time. This one came with the guides all bent up. Although there was no packing whatsoever in the box I still can't see how these things got all bent up during shipping. It's so light weight even if you banged the box against the wall as hard as you could I highly doubt these guides could get that far out of whack! And the box arrived in "perfect" condition without even a mark on it.So wanting to make it work I bent them all back in place as much as possible. Then when I was putting the reel on I noticed it wobbled like a piece of rubber. Even the slightest movement and this thing is wobbling all over the place. I know it's only $9 but it bought a complete Zebco rod & reel combo for $9.68 and it makes this rod feel like a toy not to mention has worked flawlessly since day one. I would not recommend this for even kids. And I buy cheap all the time.

What can I say?I'm not much for writing reviews as I really hate writing them. I just know what I like and what I enjoy using. This fishing rod is just right for me and has just the right feel to it. Using this pole, I'm able to cast very far with ease. Where as if I was to use a shorter pole I would not be able to cast so far so easily. I may not be very articulate at describing something the way some people would like, but I do know quality and as I have said, I do know what I like as I am very picky as to what I use when I go fishing.Not only that, I had order two Fishing rods the day I ordered this one. This which was a Shimano and the other was a Daiwa. Both were ordered with One day shipping and were supposed to be here by Tuesday so I could use them both the next day for a fishing trip. Only the Shimano showed up on time. The Daiwa showed up a day late while I was out fishing.

This is a great rod for the price. I used it this past weekend and its a great pole. I'm no professional but these did what I needed it to do. It mated up great with my pfleuger reel and the mounting twist lock stayed nice and tight. 6'6" seemed to be a good length and the action on the rod was great for lake fishing off the boardwalk/dock. The two piece design is nice and once put together it did not budge. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Has been my go-to spinning rod for over 3 months now. Definitely will look for another one of these if it ever breaks. Caught my first bass on this guy without any isseu. 2-3 pound guy but a first bass is a first bass.Casts swell, has great action. No complaints, get one.

I use these for Bass in the golf ponds as well as trout on the mountain streams....a stronger then heck light rod! I yank 3-4 poudn bass out of the pond with it! It covers all bases.....always have loved Ugly Sticks for their strength and fell!

Came in on due date but the rod was damaged, crushed in the original crushed box. Original box had been inserted in a new, bigger box hiding the damaged one inside. I was able to fix the damages to the rod so it can be used. Still not happy about the whole thing. But the rod is working beautifully.
