Love this Guitar...
I purchased this about 8 months ago (it is my first acoustic guitar) so I could learn to play again, I'm a singer by trait, but wanted to pick up a guitar again after a very long break. I did not want to spend a lot of money, but I didn't want junk either, while at the same time I wanted something that would translate well into performing live too. I did my research, and personally, it came down to this or the Yamaha APX-500 (But I really want the Mrk 1 not 2), so I settled for this. The PR-5e build quality is very good, the electronics are also very good (for the price range), and the natural sound is very, very solid and bright. The Bottom E string however, tends to need to have some low end shaved off the tone, as it is very bass heavy when plugged in to an amp, for me anyway. But as things go, and with good strings, this is guitar is worth every penny, it is beautiful, and great to play, even live performances, comments have been made on the guitar, so you'll not be embarrassed. You have to understand, this is no Taylor or Martin and there are a ton of guitars out there, but as a solid, beginners to medium guitar (even for performing), I would highly recommend this guitar if you fit into the above bracket.

More pleasing once you open the box
I bought this from Music 123 online, and sight unseen as a gift for my girlfriend. I was a little nervous, as I know that this is a slim-line, and an entry-level acoustic-electric guitar. A few notes about this guitar stood out for me: 1. This model has been around for years. 2. All of the other ratings I saw on Amazon were very high. 3. The construction of the guitar includes solid parts, not segmented parts. 4. Its EQ includes a built-in tuner, and runs on watch batteries, which will last a long time. Here's the good: I bought the natural, which has sides and a back that are a beautiful, brown mahogany. I couldn't tell from the pictures online whether I would like the back and sides, but I was more than impressed when I opened the case. The tuner is easy to use, so I know my girlfriend, who is an amateur, will be able to easily learn to use it. (I've played for 30+ years, so it is easy to forget what it is like to be a beginner) The tonal quality of the guitar is beautiful. Based on the construction and wood selection, you will get a full, rich tonal range out of this, despite it being a slim-line guitar. The action of the neck is already in pretty good shape. It won't require immediate trips to the music store to have the neck trued, or to have the action adjusted. The neck has an adjustable truss rod. The hardware looks fantastic. I didn't think I would like the gold hardware, but it really looks nice. It plays very smoothly. The rosewood fretboard is well engineered, and should be easy for any level guitarist. It is an Epiphone. My first guitar was an Epi, and I love it. Now her first guitar will be an Epi, and I think she will love it, too. Here's the bad - The case I bought with it is shoddily built. Not the actual construction as far as the wood is concerned, but the black material they glue to the case. It was bubbled and poorly attached. I am seriously thinking of contacting the vendor to ask if they can replace the case with a new one. My only concern is that the new one might be just as bad. Bear in mind that as a slim-line profile, your choice of cases might be limited. The guitar and case were all built in China and Indonesia. I have no doubt that some of the luthiers there are top-notch, but I would love to be able to get a guitar at this price that was built by an American luthier. Its just a patriotic hangup I have. If anyone from Epiphone or Gibson reads this, please let them know that if it costs slightly more but was built in the U.S., I would have no problem buying it. Thanks. Here's whats in the package: Guitar Epiphone Bumper Sticker Epiphone Model Poster Owner's Manual Manual for the EQ/Tuner Unit Some additional literature with links to learning sites and guitar lesson information. *** I highly recommend this guitar, and I am actually now thinking of getting one for myself as well. ***

It is a sweet guitar, I love this thing!
It's really is a nice guitar, I like the thin body and yet it is full size, it sounds sooo good, and it is a joy just to play it and play it again.

Great quality and sound for the price. Classic Epiphone.
I love everything about this instrument. Mine arrived packaged nicely, with no damage. The unboxing and the set-up was easy. I did a lot of research before my purchase, and I am completely satisfied with my choice.

No flies on this one.
Flawless build, the action is set up so well I don't see any need to tinker with anything. Pulled it out of the box, tuned it and strummed a few chords, then set it aside for 24 hours. Re-tuned it the next day and it has stayed in tune. I cannot find anything amiss or out of place on this one. Per the serial number, this is a 2015 Indonesian build. The wood is simply perfect in appearance and the tone is outstanding for a thinline. Yeah, I am happy with this one. Recommended. Make that HIGHLY recommended. Depending on your preferences, you may want to order some EXP15s to go with a slightly lighter string set up. Of note: I got in touch with the folks at Gator Cases, they advise the GC Jumbo, the GL Jumbo and the GW Jumbo cases are the correct models for a PR5. You probably want to look at all of them, especially the GC Jumbo (all of them are available on Amazon, naturally).

I love this guitar! My other one felt too big, but this one is thinner and the shape of it fits me much better. I love the sound and the quality!
