Excellent knife
I just started carving a couple of months ago . I started with a three knife set that was reasonably priced. I did not want to spend too much money till I knew I was going to enjoy carving. While they did the job I noticed on carving videos that my knives did not cut with the same ease lol. Naturally I assumed that being a novice I just needed more practice , which is true . Still I found my hands getting tired on rough outs. So I decided I would take a step up on a new knife. After much research into better knives for carving I decided to spend a little more and buy a morakniv coated knife. Let me sum this up this way, once I started carving with this knife I felt like my prior knives where butter knives lol. This is an excellent knife for rough out and even pealing thin layers back of wood. It came sharp and ready to use. I carve for long periods of time before stropping it and it is back to razor sharp. I would buy this knife and again and would suggest you give it a shot if you find your current knives just aren’t cutting it 😀

Great knife for carving wood. Quality made.
This is an excellent knife for wood carving. For the price, I don't see how you could do any better. I just got done carving a project for several hours and it performed wonderfully. The edge stayed very sharp throughout, with no need to strop. The blade came very sharp, there was a small wire edge in some areas of the cutting edge, but I don't mind that on a $20 knife. I stropped the knife and revitalized it to it's intended razor state. The grind of the blade is perfect for woodworking, as there is no relief edge, apart from the main grind. This allows for very precise cuts with very little unintended drift. The tip of this knife is very fine and perfect for detail work. My only cons for this knife are that the handle is a completely symmetrical tapered oval cylinder shape. Although this is ergonomically comfortable, there is no distinction on the handle which way you are supposed to hold for the cutting edge to be facing outwards. Although this may seem like common sense, The blade being almost a mirror polish, your eye does not always tell you the correct information when working on a project for several hours. There were several times that I picked the knife up and was about to press into a cut with the cutting edge against my thumb. Luckily, I realized my mistake before any injury. I will probably carve the handle and put some finger grooves and this will solve this problem. Also don't expect much from the sheath, it's just a cheap plastic sleeve that the knife sort of fits into, the belt carry tab is pretty much unusable. I removed it. Again, for the price I'm not really complaining. The sheath does it's job protecting the edge and nothing more.

Excellent carving knife!
Fits great in the hand, very easy to maneuver, and razor sharp out of the box. It cuts through basswood like butter, too. Very smooth and very clean cuts. It's very sturdy and well made and is a simple but very beautiful tool. 100% recommended.

Best knife ever
Can’t recommended this knife enough. I’ve had some flex cut knives for a while now and they’ve gotten me to a solid whittling level. After hearing good things about Morakniv I thought I’d try them out. I am absolutely blown away with how sharp it came from the factory and how long it holds it edge. This is easily my go to and favorite knife now. Another thing new to me is the blade profile as it’s curved and wow I wish I would of discovered this earlier. I will stand behind this knife and can easily say I would buy it again. I purchased the laminated version and have only been impressed by its longevity to hold a razor sharp edge. Just a couple of strops after 30 minute of carving and it’s literally popping hairs offs. The sheath is “okay” but I don’t really care about it. I purchased a whittling knife, which most whittling knives don’t have a sheath anyways so I’m not to pressed about it. I have almost stabbed and sliced open my hands a few times due to the knife falling out of the sheath but that’s part of the joys of carving ;)

Good knife, crappy sheath.
This knife is really good for the price, just like all Mora knives. It's carbon steel, so it will develop a patina, but it also keeps a very sharp edge. It's a thick enough knife that it seems fairly sturdy, but not too thick to impede carving. It's also decent as a garden knife for pruning plants. The only downside is the sheath, it's made of fairly thin plastic, the belt loop is pathetically thin, probably about as thick as most clamshell style plastic packing. I can't really fault them for skimping on the sheath, as it's something you're most likely not going to be carrying on your belt, and for the price the knife is good enough that it'd be worth it even if it didn't come with the sheath.

Really nice & VERY SHARP knife...
I was very impressed by this knife straight out of the package. It arrived RAZOR SHARP and has stayed sharp through some tinkering on some scrap wood. Haven't used it to carve any masterpieces yet, but it will certainly make it easier to make the components of a fire bow if needed & will be nice when I start carving spoons & bowls. The sheath is just a molded piece of plastic with some designs and it holds the knife o.k.. Not the best retention (it will come out if you hold it upside down & shake it hard), but this knife will be in my backpack & not used as an EDC or main blade. It keeps the blade from being exposed and I don't see it being a problem. YODA would say, "Very utilitarian and functional it is.". I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try some good old fashion country carving while waiting for the fish to bite. I have several knives from MORA and I'm planning on purchasing more. I also recommend the Harry J. Epstein Co.. I've received excellent service an my purchases through them on Amazon.

The perfect knife to learn to carve.
The knife arrived with a respectable edge that was easy to refine with only a leather bench strop and polishing compound. You could spend a lot more on more exotic hand forged knives from a specialty maker, but if you're just starting out like me, this is a perfect knife to learn with and you won't be suffering for lack of quality. I did a lot of reading, and this knife is highly recommended even by professional carvers. I feel like this blade is extremely well suited to green wood carving. Fair warning: The point is very fine. It REALLY hurts and starts bleeding instantly when you poke yourself while carving. Fortunately, any pokes or small cuts heal quickly because this knife cuts so cleanly.

Carves Wood like Butter!
This is one of the best carving knives I have used. Its wooden handle is very easy to grip and comfortable, which comes in handy when during long periods of carving. I use it for rough out carving being that it can take away a lot of material very quickly and with little effort. The blade itself comes extremely sharp and carves wood like butter. The steel is very durable and can handle a lot of use before it'll need any sharpening. Its plastic sheath is functional but nothing fancy and could easily be replaced. I'd recommend the to any new or experienced woodcarver looking for a new, high quality knife.

Excellent carving knife
Amazing carving knife. It arrived super sharp and ready to use. I've been using it for several hours a day, daily for over a week on kiln dried wood, dry wood and wood that's a few months old. I haven't needed to sharpen it at all and have been maintaining the razor sharp edge using a strop regularly. The handle is very comfortable and gippy. It's also great for different types of holds. I have no fear of my hand slipping onto the blade as that would mean I'm craving all wrong and using the knife inappropriately. The blade length is great for roughing out, doing cross bowl cuts on spoons, cups etc. And the narrow point is great for sharp turns and tight places. The sheath is nothing to write home about. It doesn't hold the knife very tight and it would likely fall out if I tipped it upside down. It does protect the blade though and keep it from going dull. I keep the knife in the sheath in a case with my other tools so right now it's not an issue. I do plan on modifiying it eventually or making a leather sheath for it. Just don't trust it when picking it up or moving it around. I did cause a very very tiny chip on it while carving kiln dried wood. But that was my fault from trying to carve off to much at once. That being said carving kiln dried wood is not the best use of this tool. This knife is better suited for green wood or wood that has been cut more recently. The spoon and butter knife in my picture were carved with the 106 and 120 on 5-6 month old birch. I had no issues and these knives performed wonderfully. This knife is an excellent carving tool and I would definitely recommend it.

Great tools and great quality
Mora blades are wonder quality and trust me just one Mora blade will be more valuable to you than a dozen cheaper ones. The steel is Superb quality and holds its sharpness for very long periods of time. No fancy handles just simple beech wood of a very simple design that is easy to hold. The handle feels great to hold with a nice balance when carving. Good quality tools also help keep the user safe, their sharpness cuts through the wood with less pressure required, which means the less force used, the less likely hood of slipping and getting getting hurt. Cheaper blades blunt quicker resulting in having to use more force, which results in the possibility of slipping and getting cut. In a nutshell Mora blades are great quality and good to carve with. They also help to cut down the chance of accidental injury.
