Written from the perspective of a "mature" and overweight exerciser appley-shaped...
I own various Skirt Sports products. I decided to try the gym girl skirt cause it was on sale (I own the lotta breeze capris). The skirt is cute and the way it's split on the side is feminine. However, for someone with belly issues (I was 300 lbs and am undr 200, but still overweight with loose skin from the weight loss), this might be a problem. Unless you have a very low waist, this is gonna hit oddly. I've seen comments on how low the waist is, and it's true. This one is lower than the lotta breeze capris (and that one is kinda lowish, too). The shorts inside are not overly long, but if you have thigh issues, be aware this can seem short to you. I found the length okay, as my main loose skin issues are high up in the thigh. If you have muscular thighs, this will let you show it off. If you're an apple with slim legs and want to hide a tummy, this will work if you're not too large, where the waist will hit oddly.Since I will wear this to walk with the matching Pow print tee, the tee covers the waist that's too low (my undies waist band shows), so I'm keeping the gym girl skirt. This would slip down if I was a runner, but I'm a walker, so it should be okay. I wouldn't be able to use it for my Pilates classes. Would just be too low for that.Ladies with issues like mine need to be aware of this VERY LOW waist and only mild compression of the shorts (for those who like good compression). The print is fun and the design of the skirt with slits is cute, but it's not for everyone.I hope Skirt Sports comes out with a "mature" and "big ladies" line with higher waists, lower shorts, etc. The longer skirt in the lotta breeze (and I will try the happy skirt as that looks more modest) are great for those of us with body issues who still want to MOVE out there and lose more weight (or just maintain). I'm looking forward to see what this designer does in future. The prints are definitely a lot of fun.

Cute AND comfortable AND high performance
I've tried different skorts for running and don't like the ones that look like they're a straight tube, so I was attracted to this one because it has a nice relaxed swing. There's a 7 inch side split on each side of the skirt, giving it movement but with good coverage. The skort sits a little bit below the waist. I LOVE the fact that it has more than one pocket - there are two pockets, one on each thigh easily accessed via the side split. I run with my dog and one pocket holds a couple of his poopie bags and the other holds my keys and lip balm. If I was still running marathons I could fit gu in these pockets easily. The pockets are also just the right size to hold a cash card if needed (I tested to see how secure the pockets would be when I was running because they don't have a flap cover but the pocket works great).I picked the pink / black pattern called UNTAMED and wanted a top to match -- I bought this Free Me Tee in black Skirt Sports Women's Free Me Tee from the same company and its perfect. I bought both in size small -- I used to really be small but am growing into a medium (need to exercise more!!) and was a little unsure if the small would fit. After reading multiple reviews saying these are generously sized I'd agree, so recommend if in doubt to buy smaller size.Bottom line, I'm delighted with these and would definitely recommend.

If you like to run while holding your skirt up...
I have a Sugoi running skirt that I love and came to Amazon to buy another. When I read the reviews for this Skirt Sport Skirt I bought it instead and thought I'd love it too. Nope. The fabric is nice, it's light and the length is right too. But the legs are tight - really tight and so I thought well that must be why people wrote that you never had to yank them down into place when you run. Nope. They are just really tight. The waist is the problem. While running, thankfully after work near night, the skirt began falling and falling. I looked like one of those kids with their pants down around the bottom of their butt. NOT a look I was going for, I had to hold the top while running down the street. Now if the legs were tight but the waist was falling down (I ordered a L, I wear a size 8/10 in jeans) a Medium may not have fallen down but I would cut off the circulation in my legs! Of course the big problem too is that you can't return them because you've worn them running. So, I just now bought the Sugoi skirt that I should have stuck with in the first place. It stays in place and is the right length and just a bit heavier than the Skirt Sport.

Best skirt out there
I am so excited! I have a few running skirts and this is by far the best. The fabric is light, the compression shorts fit very well and do not ride up and the ipod pocket and earphone hole is great. This is designed very well. I did initially order the medium and exchanged it for a small. I fit the M according to the size chart, but felt the M was too big. In my skirt sports skirt with capris I have the M and they do fall a bit when I am running, so I opted for a tighter fit and I am glad that I did. I am 5'7", 140 lbs and wear a 6 at the Gap (for reference). My hips measured in at a M. That said, in the "tough girl" pant, I am a true M. I am also very pleased with Skirt Sports overall- I now have a few bottoms and some tops that I am very pleased with. They are great when running, and also acceptable to hit the store in after. I highly recommend. The other skirt that I have run in is the NB Bonita Skirt- the shorts ride up a bit, it can be frustrating and can cause chafing if you are not careful. That said, it is a fraction of the price.
