Might be fabulous for the skinny runner...
but only okay for a chunky runner. The waist is quite low and loose - the elastic is below the actual waistband, the band itself is just loose fabric. I find myself pulling it up frequently! The shorts definitely don't move or ride up, which is great....I just worry about the skirt falling down....hoping I can get used to the 'low rise' feel but will probably end up wearing with other shorts or tights underneath

My least favorite running skirt
This was my first running skirt, and I really loved it when I first bought it. It is a modest length, it's a nice weight for spring or fall, it has three pockets so I can put my GU and keys in separate pockets and not lose one when I try to take out the other, and it's quite inexpensive compared to other skirts on the market (if you buy one of the prints that are on sale). Now that I've been shopping around and trying out other skirts, though, this has become my least favorite skirt. The my biggest problem with this skirt is the waistband. The manufacturer photos might lead you to believe that this skirt has a thick waistband because of the yoke around the top, but in fact the waistband consists of a thin piece of elastic about 1/2" (or 1.5 cm) thick where the shorts connect to the skirt part (if you look closely at the images for the black or the blue (lapis) skirts you can see what I mean -- the elastic ends about where the fabric folds just under the top of the skirt waist). It's not very flattering on someone who is not a model (me). More importantly, it feels extremely awkward when I'm wearing it because the outer skirt piece of fabric isn't attached to the TOP of the elastic waistband, it's sewn to to the BOTTOM of the elastic -- the skirt fabric flows up and over the elastic and then down to form the skirt. As a result, the waistband sort of folds over on itself sometimes, and other times the skirt fabric rides up higher than it probably should be on my stomach. It's a really bizarre fit.My second gripe with this skirt is the shorts. They don't ride up, so that's great, but the fabric just isn't that comfortable. There's no elastic band at the bottom to keep them from riding up, instead the shorts are just tight. But they aren't a normal lycra-type fabric -- they are a little stiff. It's fine in the spring or fall, but in the summer I sweat like crazy and I think the shorts fabric is a little too thick for hot weather. For my personal tastes the skirt is also a little long. I bought this when I was new to running and I thought I would want the length for modesty. Now that I'm used to running in shorter things, the longer length feels just a little too long.I still give this skirt 3 stars because despite the waistband issue I still use it, and it's a good price. If you are thinking about buying a running skirt, this is not a bad one to try out to see if you even like the concept. I love skorts and will never go back to shorts because skorts don't ride up or bunch ever. I have tried a few other skorts at this point, and here is how they compare to this one:Brooks PR II Mesh Skort:This is my favorite skort because it's extremely lightweight and breatheable because of the mesh (lighter than the Skirt Sports, but not so light as to feel unsubstantial), and the shorts never ride up. It's 14" long (about 2" shorter than this one) but it doesn't feel too short IMO. It has 2 pockets -- one on the back of the waistband, and a small one on the shorts (the Skirt Sports is the clear winner for pockets in all the skorts I've tried). Also, the waistband on the PR Mesh Skort is thick and extremely flattering and comfortable (beats this skirt). Some colors of the Brooks skort are on sale right now for $33, so it's currently comparable in price to this skort, but usually it goes for $52.Lululemon Pacesetter Skort:This is the cutest thing I've ever worn for running, but at $58 I probably wouldn't buy it again. It's slightly heavier than the brooks skort (but lighter weight than this one), but the undershorts are extremely short compared to the skirt part, so the skirt is constantly brushing against my skin. Not a huge deal, but it gets annoying over time. Also, the pocket on the shorts is designed to hold a tennis ball, so it opens down towards the ground, so it's not functional for runners. If you buy the tall it's 13.75" long.Moving Comfort Sprint Tech Skort:The Moving Comfort skort is very comfortable, and has the best waistband of all the skirts I've tried -- it's thick but comfortable and flattering. I ordered and tried on this skort but ended up returning it because I thought the fabric was a little too thick for the heat (it's much thicker than this skort). It's 13" long and $56.

Great skirt
I got the hot chocolate pattern. I really like it! I love the little pockets on the legs. Perfect to hold a mid run snack. The hip zipper pocket easily holds my sansa clip+ and a lip balm. Only thing I would like better is if there was a pass-through hole to run my headphones to a leg pocket instead of using the hip pocket for my mp3 player. The material is heavier and more solid than I anticipated, but that's great as I want this skirt to provide protection against rubs as well as modesty and last since it's rather expensive, I want something that will be with me for many runs and I feel this skirt will hold up. I'm in training for a 10k. So I have no experience with longer distances yet. Fit seemed true to size. I ordered a medium and the skirt and leggings fit great.

Definitely not my fit
I bought this skirt hoping for a good fit for a tall girl (I'm 5'11). The upside is that the short does not ride up at all. There is a huge downside though, the waistline runs low and it is impossible to pull up because of the short, this results in a very uncomfortable and unflattering fit.Although the short fits perfectly, the skirt is way way oversized. The feel of the excess fabric flapping around is very annoying, and the look is far from flattering.

GREAT FOR RUNNING!
I ordered the Skirt Sports Women's Happy Girl Skirt in Black 2 days before I ran my first 5K race. This was a last ditch effort to replace my current skort that was chaffing me. I am SO happy with this purchase! The other reviews are right, the shorts underneath are compression and DID NOT MOVE AT ALL while running. They are very comfortable and the back zipper pocket was great for carrying my credit cards, ID and cash! Although I did not have a need (this time) for the TWO inside small pocket attached to the compression shorts, I'm sure these pockets will also come in handy in my future runs. I'm already looking to purchase another skirt. This particular skirt is longer than others that they sell so be sure to look at the length advertised, as this one (Happy Girl)is 16.5 inches long in front and 17.5 inches in back. Some are shorter so if you'd like the longer version choose this one. Also, this skirt is low rise but I thought it was very comfortable to wear.

it fit fine. But when running
Do NOT buy directly from company. Cannot return once you've worn. I ordered a Small (I always wear small); it fit fine. But when running, the weight of the fabric and the waistband design made the skirt keep sliding down -- super annoying. Plus, the fabric is heavy and slaps against your legs. I SO did not like the skirt. $70 wasted

Five stars, but fit varies with color choices
Love this skort - the length is great, finally a pair of shorts underneath that stay put no matter what, great zippered pocket in back, comfortable wide waist, really a great skort. But, need to pass along that after buying the gray version, came back for Red Play Kiss print, and the shorts underneath are MUCH tighter, so much that I regretfully had to return (and the skirt part fit well, so I couldn't just size up). A visit to the Skirt Sports website found a note that both this print and the other new ocean print have tighter-fitting shorts, so it wasn't my imagination (or delish pasta the night before).Amazon shipping super fast as always, and their return process simple (lots of clothing items have free return shipping)
