The book has historical significance as well as botanical accuracy and a proper and pleasing aesthetic presence. The book leaves space to write in, but really it's not a diary. I would not write in the book. If I wanted to keep any science type journal, I would write in an accompanying journal. The plants are those from a German garden in the 1600s. The names of the plants are grouped into the four seasons. Their Latin names are included as well as their common names written in German, English, and French. According to Wikipedia, the gardens were destroyed by the Swedes centuries ago, restored, painted, engraved, and then finally this book was printed in China, sold in America, and delivered by Amazon. It feels like a found treasure with a lot of worldly connections.

It would be extremely helpful to include the day of the week. I know why they didn't include it (I think) so it can be used for any year, but it's sort of worthless for keeping track of anything important unless you have days of the week on each page.

I bought this as a birthday gift for a friend who is an avid gardener. She just loved it and cant wait to start reading it everyday

Bought this as a gift for a friend's 50th birthday. She loved it. Very beautiful and practical too, because only the calendar date is shown (not the day of the week) so multiple entries can be added in different years.

Libro speciale e unico nel suo genere, in quanto raccoglie come fosse un erbario tutte le specie botaniche esistite nello storico giardino di Johann Konrad von Gemmingen, principe vescovo di Eichstätt, ( Baviera).Il principe arruolò Basilius Belser, botanico e farmacista, che realizzò questo titanico documento composto da ben 567 incisioni su rame raffiguranti le bellissime piante del giardino.Ogni giorno - e secondo il passare delle stagioni - scoprirete una nuova illustrazione a testimonanza del giardino.Unica pecca il formato un po piccolo, ma comunque ne vale la pena.Consigliato a tutti gli appassionati di botanica e illustrazione.

Il libro è un'ottima edizione, pubblicato su carta patinata, stampa a sinistra e pagina bianca a destra, così che l'immagine non venga mai inquinata dalla stampa successiva.Questa edizione è splendida da avere perché disegni botanici così, opere di Basilius Besler, ormai non se ne vedeno più, sorpassati dalle fotografie o disegni a computer. Ora invece sulla mia libreria posso aggiungere un tocco di verde in maniera molto romantica, e ogni giorno potrò sfogliare e sfoggiare un fiore o una pianta nuova.
