SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player (Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I have two Sansa Clip+ players and a Clip Zip. I used to have a second Clip Zip, but it got fried from a bad usb port (very rare thing). They all have Rockbox installed, which I think is the best for these players, as it vastly improves the functionality, despite being a bit more complicated. But Rockbox of course is optional and may not be worth the hassle for most.Anyway, the players are great, I've used them a few years now, but now that they are discontinued, I would not recommend purchasing at the latest prices. Even though I love these things, it's still a cheap chinese plastic player. A few years ago there were not many options for Sansa Clip-like players, but there are more options in 2016-17. If I was going to spend a hundred bucks, I would look at players by Fiio, for example. Sansa players are great because they are usually only around thirty or forty bucks, so if one gets fried, or lost, it's not a big deal.That said, if you've used the clip+ in the past and love them, then it could be worth it. I paid almost seventy for the last one I bought, but only because I already had experience with them. I won't be buying anymore unless they bring it back.

This is a little workhorse of an mp3 player. I bought it in April, 2015 for 42$. I see now that it's more than twice that price and that it's discontinued. I don't think it's worth 91$, but I do think it's a shame this thing was discontinued.I use this approximately 35-40 hours a week. Mostly I use it for when I'm writing for extended periods of time, and I use it, with guided imagery and delta waves, to go back to sleep if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night.I took this on an extended trip to Europe and used it to listen to Gregorian chants while I wandered through great cathedrals. I use it listening to Credence Clearwater Revival while I do house work. As I wrote above, this thing is a fine little workhorse.

Leaving my original below -- once rate 5-stars, now 1-star... Why; this is the second one of these I've had that lasted barely a month and then failed. No apparent resuscitation for it, so it is dead... As you can see below, I really liked it and was nice while it lasted, but cannot recommend.*********I have no idea why the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 8 GB MP3 Player was discounted and I avoided buying it for a bit, because of that. Years ago I bought a Sansa Fuse that gave me excellent service for 7-8 years before it finely succumbed to my hamfistedness -- thinking I'd just buy another, I bought the new Sansa model by the same name -- it proved hugely frustrating for me, I commute 3-4 hours a day and audiobooks, audio work files and podcasts are a big part of my day. The modern Fuse (admittedly competitively priced) proved nearly worthless for that purpose -- losing its place, not able to consistently recognize files in sequence and sometimes for unexplained reason going into jumble mode. So after buying two Fuses (thinking the first was simply malfunctioning) I took a chance on the discontinued Clip+ at about three times the price.Is the discontinued Clip+ worth the premium -- yep, you bet. Nirvana !! It plays audiobooks seamlessly, knows where we left off, so far hasn't had a misstep despite clumsy fat-fingering and (maybe it is just my imagination) sounds richer and more full -- well, it does have built in tone-controls just like my ancient Fuse did. Should never have been discontinued...

I bought this particular player because I was tired of being tied to the Apple ecosystem. Anytime I wanted to put new songs, videos, playlists, etc on my old iPod I would be prompted to download iTunes, sync with iCloud, check out the newest U2 album, pledge allegiance to Steve Jobs and check in with all the various other services that come with Apple. It was frustrating, annoying and all I wanted to do was plug in my device, drag a recently downloaded song to it and be on my way.Enter, SanDisk's Sansa Clip. This device, similar to the Android counterparts of Apple's iPhones, just works and comes without all the extras that you don't need. The device came with a disc of Rhapsody that you are encouraged, but not required, to install but I opted to stick with the music player already installed on my PC and it worked just fine. You plug the device in via the USB cable provided, your computer will recognize it as a flash drive or within the music player you have and you just drop in your mp3s. Easy peasy and you don't have to go through all the unnecessary prompts and/or software updates that bother you with Apple products.Other things worth mentioning:User Interface - I was worried that the screen and menus would be a little too old-school-y for me, but it really is nicely done. The screen is responsive and decent enough quality for what is needed. I don't know why I worried about this, but I did initially before purchase. I'm pleasantly surprised, currently.Built-On Clip - This was a big plus. The clip built on the back is invaluable to me, as I use this purely for the gym and/or running. I had to buy separate cases and bands for my iPod, but this is usable out of the box without any accessories. Big plus.Battery Life - Because the screen is lower-key than the iPod Nano's I used previously, the battery is able to last MUCH longer. I've honestly not had to charge it yet and I've had it for about a month now, using it 4+ times a week for an hour or so each session.Lock Screen - This device has a built in lock functionality that is nice for unintentional song changes and battery saving. Just need to long-press the home button and away you go. This is part of the reason I've gone a month without charging.That's about all that comes to mind at this point. Again, this is a great, no-frills device that is absolutely perfect if you're looking for something to play music and only play music. It just works.

Does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. Unparalleled balance of value, compactness and performance in my experience.

I have bought many of these MP3 players in the last couple of years. I frequently lose them while rollerblading etc. My criteria when shopping for an MP3 player were:* not made by Apple* not too expensive* good sound quality* no big battery-sucking colour screenThis MP3 player is the closest I have found that meets these criteria. I have tried many others, but surprisingly, most MP3 players are just not very good.The thing that is preventing me from giving this 5 stars is that frequently, the device will lock up while I'm using it (maybe because of static electricity?) and I have to do the long-press-and-hold to power it off and back on again. I am pretty sure it's a hardware problem because it happens with the stock firmware and also with RockBox. Every SanDisk Sansa Clip I have purchased has had this problem. It's annoying. But even with this flaw it is better than the alternatives I have tried.

Inexpensive music player with a slot for a micro SD card. What more could you ask for?The 5-star rating applies only in the circumstance that you install ROCKBOX on your Sansa Clip. With ROCKBOX installed and after pairing the device with a high memory SD card, I would go as far as to say this is perhaps the best MP3 device I have ever owned.Disclaimer: Installing ROCKBOX voids the product warranty and can potentially brick the device.

Nicht zum ersten Mal bestellen wir das Modell auch als Geschenk.- Das Menü ist übersichtlich und leicht verständlich, auch Kinder kommen damit zurecht.- Für Hörbücher und Hörspiele ist der San Disk Sansa Clip genau richtig,( besonders bei der Benjamin-Blümchen Generation,) da die Lautstärke nicht bis zum Trommelfellriß hochgeschraubt werden kann.- Der Klang ist nicht blechern und auch für Musikliebhabern und Radiohörer ist der Preis bei dieser Qualität angemessen.- Die mitgelieferten Kopfhörer sind okay.- Das Aufladen ist keine große Kunst mit dem Ladekabel über den PC. Das Dingelchen sagt einem dann ., ob es noch saugt, oder schon genug Saft hat.- Bei den kleineren Kindern ist der SanDisk auch schon einige Male runter gefallen, einmal sogar vom Hochbett....er läuft immer noch ohne Macken. Von uns gibt es eine klare Empfehlung mit 5 Sternen.

Wanted a small MP3 player for running. Read reviews (here and elsewhere), and they were generally positive, with a few grumblings about battery life after varying periods of ownership. One afternoon I unplugged it from my laptop, and it wouldn't turn on. No reset procedure on Sansa's website worked, and the seller tried to help (with links to same). Returned to seller at their request for warranty. That was two months ago and haven't heard anything since.Update: I have since received a replacement from the seller and this one is fine. Adding music is easy as "drag and drop" as long as you don't mind your songs going into alphabetical order regardless of the "drag and drop" order. If you want tunes in a certain order you'll need some kind of media player software...I just use the Windows one on my laptop. For a mid-price player this prob as good as you'll get.
