Great self-cleaning shredder
Really like shredder. Be sure to get shredder oil- I like synthetic, .I often use reverse function to help clean the shredder.Auto detect paper won't shreds if pile is to thick, (which you can override)One issue: If you press reverse, you won't be able to use forward button/function unless you press on/off button and if you press forward button, reverse button won't function unless you turn machine off and then back on first. No big deal, still like the shredder.Auto cut off when included basket is full, (good because a full basket can cause "shred feed back" and damage your machine (see below))nice big light-up buttons with pretty red and blue colors .The self cleaning blades are important because that is what wrecks your shredder- when paper bits are pushed into the machine and build up, breaking the parts,Be sure to reverse it to use self-clearing function properly. This shredder is really on the next level.

Does the job
We bought this shredder because the "Level 3" shreds still had readable fragments in it. We've used this one for about 3 loads now and it's working great so far. The shreds are not readable and effectively impossible to piece together, so very sufficiently secure for any personal use. We try not to put 6 sheets through at once because it makes heavy work of that, and are oiling it as recommended every full bin. When you remove the bin, it's a little tricky to get back in and you have to push on both sides. Overall, the construction of the plastic is a bit flimsy but the mechanism seems to work fine. Much better than my former shredder, where you had to lift the top off.

Whole Envelopes Need More Power
This is a top-of-the-line shredder for quality. No concerns here. However, I shred junk mail, typically whole envelopes at a time. Envelopes of average thickness, or even slightly thicker, require you to press and hold the forward button, forcing it to shred. The usual method, the "Auto" shredding feature, would sense the thickness of the envelope and not perform the shred. Pressing the forward button, however, would soon trigger a "bin-full" indication. To continue shredding, you would have to open the waste bin and clear the cutter heads. A simple process, but annoying. For normal shredding, many pages at a time for example, I would expect this to be a great shredder, maybe even best-in-class. I purchased the Swingline DX18-13 and it is fantastic for even two average envelopes of junk mail at the same time!!

Great Paper Shredder
Excellent shredder. I have had no issues with it shredding whole envelopes of junk mail or a stack of old bills. I imagine this shredder might struggle with those LARGE envelopes containing loads of coupons or if you try to shred multiple envelopes at a time. This thing is quiet, efficient, and holds a lot of shredded paper. I have no complaints.

Great Shredder
I bought this shredder over 2 years ago. It has given me no problems. I would estimate that I shred about 2 trash bags of paper a month. I would certainly buy it again (I hope not too soon).

messy but works well
Every time you empty the basket of scrap, alot of scrap falls down and make a mess. I even tried to manualy run the shredder before emptying the basket and it still make a mess. runs good and sounds powerful though.

This Listing is Wrong
I recently bought a Shredmaster GSX168 from Amazon, and the one pictured here ain't it. Rather, the pictured unit resembles a smaller, much cheaper GEX106. #1758495 can be shown for both, but I'm not sure of its source or significance. Be careful to buy the correct model. Look under personal shredders on the GBC website to straighten it out.My GBX168 is a good product. I'll list its review with the proper widget.
