Pfanstiehl Black Velvet Stylus and Vinyl Record Cleaner

The LP cleaner is very good. The sylus brush is just OK.. I never use it anyway. I read an article in the Absolute Sound that said the best stylus cleaner is RTOM Moongels.I bought some last week on Amazon. Its only $5 but works great.

The brush itself does a decent job removing dust from my LP's, but the stylus brush is tiny and has flimsy narrow bristles. Plus the cover holding the stylus brush is tight, so tight I cracked it trying to get it open. I'll use the velvet brush as it seems a little, to me any way, better than those so called carbon fiber brushed at getting the dust off my LP's.

For the price, this works very well; the stylus cleaner also works fine. If your not a pro, this cleaning kit is a good deal.

I read many reviews stating that the lid to the storage compartment broke almost immediately. I thought, "geez, these people are rough! I'll just be careful...it will be okay." Nope. Broke on my very first attempt to open it. I humbly apologize for my arrogant thoughts! Totally broke into several pieces. No big deal (I now use a rubber band to keep the stylus brush from falling out) but very disappointing.I'm taking off two full stars because some simple instructions could have prevented this for me and all the other users who had the same experience. Upon examining the broken pieces of the lid and how it attached to the body of the velvet pad, it was clear that the way to remove the lid is to pull straight up while holding both sides, as the lid had posts that inserted into holes, centered on either end. But the natural inclination is to pry up from one side or another, which is a mistake and obviously shatters the cheap plastic. A little image and instructional blurb on the card back and all would have been well.That being said, the product itself is exactly what I was wanting: a velvet dust pad to use before playing my vinyl, and a stylus brush, together with no cleaning solution (I make my own). Both work well.All in all I'm pleased with the purchase. If you take my advice on how to open the storage compartment, you'll be please and likely giving it 4 or 5 stars. :)Pfanstiehl should take my advice as well and include some simple instructions.

Simple cleaner picks up dust leaving the record ready to play. Reminds me of the one I used as a kid in the 80s, which served me well for a decade or more. Good price, good product.

Good deal and does the job. Just as good as some higher priced brands.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IT CONTAINS LEAD!! I will be returning this product and the spray I also ordered. I have not opened either item. Both items list LEAD is contained in their products. This fact is not disclosed on the Amazon website. I'm pretty disappointed with Amazon, the distributor AND especially with the manufacturer. UNBELIEVABLE!!

This record cleaner is good for surface dusting (not deep groove cleaning) and the fact that it comes with the stylus duster is what made me buy it. The plastic on the lid that contains the stylus duster is cracking somewhat already because it can be difficult to remove, but definitely not a big deal. It's certainly worth it for the cheap price, and dusts my albums quite well.
