Barely a Carhartt anymore
I have bought several Oakman Sandstone Carhartt shirts in the past years , and sadly I have seen the quality going down, going down the road of cheap materials and the distinction between a Carhartt and Dickies, Wolverine etc, are almost non existent , except for their tags and their price. The fabric material is of a lesser quality and thickness , by the 4th washing the fraying at the seems of the arms start to show up. Also in their quest to cut costs they have replaced the nice little logo of dark brown leather on the right side pocket with a Dickies style fabric strip logo. When I expect quality I am willing to pay for that, and if they are lowering theirs, so should their prices.

Quality shirt that runs large, doesn't look great and is over-priced
I've only recently started experimenting with Carhartt clothes. I've discovered that their sizing is bizarre. Their pants run small in the waist and long in the inseam, while their shirts seem to run very large. I guess their target market is for football players with massive torsos, thin waists and huge, muscular thighs...Anyway, here are the key points:Quality:Very high quality. The material is VERY thick and sturdy, but also fairly comfortable (for a thick workshirt). It looks and feels like something survivors will be still be wearing after the nuclear apocalypse...Fit:I am normally between a large and X-large, depending on the cut of the shirt. This large fit me like my daddy's shirt when I was 10. To say this thing is generously sized is an understatement. Even after being washed, I didn't notice any shrinking. I have a shirt jac from Legendary Whitetails (size large) and I think this shirt actually fits me bigger than that. Given the thickness and size of the shirt, I'll probably wear it as a shirt jac in the winter when I am working outside and don't want to mess up my nice jackets.Appearance:I have to give pretty low marks here. The shirt looks comical on me. It is very bulky, large and due to the thickness of the material, it sits on my body strangely. Maybe it will break in better over time, but for now I wouldn't wear this out of the house other than to do yard work (or unbuttoned as a shirt jac). Conclusion:I'll probably wear it very rarely and don't plan to buy another. If you are a viking, it might fit right - otherwise, consider sizing down. I realize a work shirt is functional and not for fashion - however, I own other work shirts (for example RIGGS from Wrangler) that are durable, fit correctly, look good and are much more reasonably priced. While it is a quality shirt, I think you are really paying a premium for the Carhartt name.

Not As Pictured
I would certainly rated this five stars for fit and feel. 6'1" 260 in XXL=perfect. BUT, like many other reviews (and hopes), I was excited to find and purchase this shirt for use in a more professional environment. One that did not have the glaring standard Carhartt logo that stands out like a billboard. To my complete disappointment, arrived with the standard logo! Decided to take a drive to the local Carhartt store. They had the entire Oakman line, and they all had the standard logo, and they said they were always that way. Amazon - PLEASE represent the clothing correctly!

What do you expect? Its a Carhartt
I'm 6' 1" 155 lbs and finding medium shirts that fit me right isn't the easiest. All other Medium work shirts I've bought (Dickies, Walmart, among many) start out a hair short/tight and end up unwearable after a wash or two. Large work shirts from the same brands are about the right length - or still short in some cases - but make me look as though I'm swimming in an extra yard of fabric in the girth of the shirt. This is the first work shirt I've bought in a while that fits me the way a work shirt should. There is no tightness in the shoulders, no too short hem, and the cuffs fall to the wrist with a little extra sleeve (but not too much). The fabric is a perfect thickness that achieves long-lasting sturdiness without being overwhelming or heavy. I haven't had the need just yet but I have no doubt this shirt will layer well beneath a jacket and be very comfortable.I got to wear the shirt this past weekend while four-wheeling around Snowshoe PA. The first night was sub 40s and this shirt (with a light beer jacket) kept me warm late into the night as we did maintenance on our machines. The next day I added a medium weight thermal layer beneath the shirt and I was snug as a bug riding in 45-55* temps (and sparse showers) in the Rzr 800.\The leather Carhartt patch is a great touch that is missed on some of their other products and significantly reinforces the hardy feel of the shirt.Con? The washing instructions state "wash separately" but that's only really a problem if you don't have 5 or 6 (which I soon will). Washing a single shirt though is somewhat problematic.

Rugged shirt that looks good and fits well
This is a rugged shirt that's nearly a denim weight fabric. It's dressy enough to wear out to dinner or tough enough to wear to work. Untucked it looks good and allows air to circulate. Tucked in under a coat it looks good but will be a bit hot. This is comfortable and fits well. I'll have this shirt for years and when the time comes I'll buy it again.

Wrong shirt
It's a Carhartt shirt, just not the one I ordered. to review it would be unfair to Carhartt as it's probably a good shirt for its own description, but not what I expected. If I review Amazon about this then 1 star cause it's not what I expected from the description on the site. Its my money and I can be as fussy as I want.

Nice Material but huge for size.
The material was thick and strong, but the size guide is completely off. I'm 6'4 200 lbs with a 42 inch chest and the large size could literally fit two of me. If you're looking for a remotely well-fitting shirt these shirts are great if you have a giant beer belly to fill the 50+ inch waist that these shirts have.
